Here at FLAVORx, we love the chance to get to know our pharmacy partners and share the unique value they add to their communities. This month, we’re featuring Bendall’s Pharmacy of Decatur, Alabama. For almost fifty years, this pharmacy has provided their community with great care and friendly service. Christy Penn, a certified pharmacy technician at Bendall’s, gave us a little insight into what makes their pharmacy special.
With 16 people on their staff, this pharmacy works hard to make a big impact. They offer immunizations, blister packing, the medication sync program, pharmacist counseling, disease education programs, and more. Owned by husband and wife team Tim and Shannon Douthit, the family feel carries over to their entire staff. Penn explained, “The employees really care about each other and work well together. This ‘family’ environment carries over to the customers and helps provide them with the best possible care in a pleasant environment.”
As a FLAVORx pharmacy, Bendall’s utilizes the Fillmaster Auto to customize the taste of children’s medicine. Penn said, “We offer the FLAVORx service free of charge in hopes to make life easier for the parents and medication more tolerable for the kids. We love this service and offer it every chance we get.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the pharmacy's employees have worked to make their two drive-through windows more efficient to ensure patients still feel safe visiting the pharmacy. The pharmacy also offers free home delivery and curbside pickup as other alternatives for patients who aren’t
comfortable coming into the pharmacy.
Residents of Decatur, Alabama are lucky to have had Bendall's Pharmacy as a staple in their town for so many years. Penn told us, “The customer service and kindness are what make our pharmacy unique. We have some amazing patient relationships and truly care for them as if they are family.”
